چکیده

High Impedance Faults (HIFs) are recurring events in electrical Distribution Systems (DSs) and occur by the contact between energized conductors high impedance surfaces. HIFs may pose hazards to living beings cause bushfires. However, HIF protection has not been completely solved due small fault current varying impedance, inhibiting traditional techniques from functioning correctly. In literature, researchers have mainly focused on detection techniques. Thus, development of Location Methods (HIFLMs) is recent, evidences for conclusive solutions still lacking. Moreover, this date, no existing study reviews main challenges concerning HIFLMs DSs. This paper proposes a systematic analysis common stages design HIFLMs. The strategy evaluating similar characteristics that research path regarding faced real-world conditions. Additionally, case assess best input signals, metrics, machine learning-based decision algorithms new HIFLM. results promising, with identification rates, even noisy methodology can help select datasets supervised Highlighting state-of-art methods support paper’s contributions.

Research on Fault Location Method Based on Nonlinear Impedance Model

In modeling and location analysis, most traditional fault location methods do not consider about the existence of practical nonlinear model in distribution network, such as the nonlinearity of load and grounding resistor. Hence, the adopted model can’t express the practical network, and the location results will lose practical meaning. Aiming at solving the question above, this paper proposes a...

Cross Entropy-Based High-Impedance Fault Detection Algorithm for Distribution Networks

The low fault current of high-impedance faults (HIFs) is one of the main challenges for the protection of distribution networks. The inability of conventional overcurrent relays in detecting these faults results in electric arc continuity that it causes the fire hazard and electric shock and poses a serious threat to human life and network equipment. This paper presents an HIF detection algori...
